Vertical farming and urban agriculture are revolutionizing food production using novel, space-saving methods to cultivate crops in cities. As a result of growing urbanization and limited agricultural land, such environmentally friendly farming practices combine hydroponics, aeroponics, and controlled environment agriculture (CEA) to produce high yields with reduced usage of resources. Year-round production is made possible by vertical farming, using fewer gallons of water and pesticides, which leads to food security and climate resilience. Innovative farming technologies, LED lighting, and automation all improve productivity with integration. Such technologies and how they contribute to sustainable food systems will be of top discussion during the Agriculture, Forestry, and Horticulture World Conference, shaping future food production in the urban setting.
