Betty Prissy Njoki is a social scientist with over two decades of experience in ecosystem and landscape restoration, sfood security, forestry governance, climate change adaptation and community development in Kenya. She has successfully led and implemented high-impact programs in forestry and agricultural sectors.
She holds a Master of Arts in Rural Sociology and Community Development from the University of Nairobi and a Bachelor of Science in Food Science from Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology and is undertaking doctoral research on environmental crimes and forestry governance within the East African Community at University of Nairobi -International Studies
. Currently Njoki is serving as an Assistant Director for Partnerships at the Kenya Forestry Research Institute (KEFRI) and her work focuses on project design and implementation, environmental and social safeguards, climate and gender mainstreaming and international climate financing for climate change mitigation and adaptation. She has contributed to national and regional initiatives in landscape restoration and climate resilience, including Kenya’s 15 billion Tree Growing Programme, the cross-border landscape/protected areas restoration, and the restoration of Kenya’s water towers.
